Prompt 38: Speak Your Truth

October 16, 2015 Amado Prompts

the-truth-is-trying-to-get-out2Pause for a moment and consider: what is one of the most important things that is going on for you personally right now, and what is so true about it for you that it is a capital-t Truth? Something that is meaningful and undeniable, to you, right now.

Let’s hear it.

Your Prompt: Speak, sing, or otherwise express your Truth, whatever that concept means for you. Do it solo or looped or layered, do it in English or in your personal idioglossia or in unarticulated tones, do it as loud or soft or as brave or as timid as you need to, but tap into that part of you that desperately wanted to say something, and was just waiting for permission. You have it. Speak your Truth.

Options

It’s good to have options. Here are ways to perhaps make the prompt a bit easier, or ways to go a bit further with it.

Option A: The Best of You – Most of us have cultivated a self-image that allows us to be at least okay with our selves. Perhaps you have a personal Mission Ststaement that you feel good about, or some goal near to your heart that you’ve recently come closer to. Maybe there’s a familiar, well-rehearsed Truth that has been generally in your life for a while. Use that, and reinforce that Good by giving voice to it.

Option B: Shine Light on the Shadow – It’s not our aim to be invasive; the point of this Prompt is not to get you to reveal your innermost self in ways that would be damaging to you. So, exercise this Option with care. But sometimes we have Truths that aren’t pretty; some, we’d prefer not to acknowledge. While it may be inadvisable to feed these impulses, likewise it does us no good to pretend they aren’t there. In the spirit of loving permission, shine a light on one of these shadowy beasties. “Name it to tame it,” perhaps.
