We’re here to build a culture that encourages people to sing, to improvise, and to grow in those abilities. To that end, please follow these guidelines when participating, whether you’re singing, listening, or commenting:
- Fear not. This is about mutual support, not competition. We want to offer a safe place for singers to experiment and grow. We want to hear your voice.
- Sing as often as works for you. No need to contribute every week. Just jump in whenever you can.
- Be social. We’re here to build a strong community of singers. So leave some glowing comments. Share your favorite tracks. You might even start a long-distance collaboration.
A Word on Comments/Critiques
One of the things you will get as a participant is at least two people—your moderators—to listen to your contribution and leave a comment on some positive aspect of your piece, a place of strength we observe that you might be able to use as a starting place to grow from. And we encourage everyone who participates to listen to each others’ tracks—whether you’ve contributed one or not—and similarly leave a comment.
But please remember, these are people’s artistic creations, and the creators are liable to have strong feelings about them. Leave a comment about something you liked, unless the creator has specifically asked for a critique on some aspect of their piece. And even then, use all appropriate caution and couch your critique in as affirming way as possible.
It’s simple: be nice. We can’t overstate it: we’re here to build community and help each other grow, not to shut one another down. Be nice.
